A Satsang and transformation circle is spontaneous and free-flowing just like life. Meditation, yoga kriyas (ancient yogic practices to used to facilitate spiritual awakening) and open discussions will take place.
The beauty and excitement of our transformation circles is that anything can happen and everyone can be openly involved to whatever unfolds. The facilitators will often talk informally on some topic and or, answers questions. We may bring in special guests to play music, sing, chant or dance.
During a traditional Satsang, people laugh, talk, cry, get angry, relax and, in the best situation, experience presence and bliss. Our aim is to allow you to have a deeper understanding of yourself and to renew your purpose.
This class takes place the last Sunday of every month. No previous experience required.
Satyananda Yoga Nidra
Satyananda Yoga Nidra was devised by Swami Satyananda Saraswati from traditional Tantric practices and has had a major impact on the world of yoga. Satyananda Yoga Nidra is a pratyahara technique in which the distractions of the mind are contained and the mind is allowed to relax. This practice has had a profound transformative effect on practitioners.
People feel that they are relaxing when they collapse in an easychair with a cup of tea or coffee, have a drink or a cigarette, read a newspaper or watch television but this, in fact, is merely sensory diversion. Twentieth century research into sleep has proven that even entering into this traditional haven will rarely banish stress. True relaxation is an experience far beyond all this. For absolute relaxation, one must remain aware. This is Satyananda Yoga Nidra: the state of dynamic sleep.
Satyananda Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. During the practice, one appears to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. Full details are set out in the book "Yoga Nidra" by Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
This class is appropriate for all levels.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Vinyasa flow is a class designed to stimulate the cardiovascular system as well as incorporating a variety of postures which target the various parts of the body.
Vinyasa is a term synonymous with sun salutations, a sequence of postures performed in a specific order that generate prana, the subtle energy which activates the psychic body.
Sun salutations are an effective way of loosening up, stretching, massaging and toning all the joints, muscles and internal organs of the body. Its versatility and application make it one of the most useful methods of inducing a healthy, vigorous and active life while, at the same time, preparing for spiritual awakening and the resulting expansion of awareness.
In a typical vinyasa flow class, vinyasa is alternated between static postures creating a flow of movement that engages the practitioner to merge with their breath and develop a deeper understanding of how to unite body and mind in the physical practice.
A solid understanding of sun salutation is recommended for this class.
Yin Yoga
Yin is the moon: feminine, stable, unmoving, conserving and tranquil. Yang is the sun: masculine, fire, rapidity and movement.
Many forms of Yoga practiced today are Yang (flow, vinyasa, Ashtanga). Yin Yoga differs from Yang styles of Yoga in that it focuses on the ligaments, tendons and fascia in the body. By gently stretching connective tissue the body responds by making the tissue stronger. In Yin Yoga, postures are held for 3 to 5 to 10 minutes, as connective tissue responds best to a long steady hold.
The hips, pelvis and lower spine are the focus of the majority of the postures. By paying special attention to these areas of the body, Yin yoga helps prepare the body for seated meditation.
Yin is a great compliment for those that practice Yang styles of yoga or for those looking for a quiet practice. This is a wonderful way to explore the subtleties of the body and breath.
This class is appropriate for all levels.

Additionally, if participants have specific injuries or areas of concern, those are worked on in this class.
