What style of yoga do you offer at Lotus Soul Gym?
Hatha Yoga is a gentle yet deep experience that will appeal to those with a wide range of abilities from beginners to on going students with an established practice. Focusing on breath and body awareness while building strength and flexibility the net result is one of serene mind body integration.
Yoga for Boomers (over 55), taught by a bona fide boomer takes the Hatha tradition with considerations given for those who have been inactive for some time or have limited mobility issues. This class can be enjoyed as a relaxing yet thorough yoga experience or as a strategy for ramping up to a stronger class. Yoga is for everyone!
Vinyasa Flow which is essentially breath synchronized movement, where poses will flow from one to another in conjunction with the breath. Vinyasa, coming from the word nyasa plus the prefix vi suggests placement and, in the context of asana, refers to the order in which postures are placed - the science of sequencing. This will appeal to those looking for a strong and exhilarating yoga experience. The postures and sequencing are based on the Ashtanga tradition but can be modified according to class ability levels. Come hydrated and be prepared to sweat!
Pre Natal Yoga will help expecting mothers to enjoy the best possible pregnancy as they embark on this precious and amazing journey that has no equals. On this voyage of discovery and profound changes yoga will help you to pro-actively prepare for an easy delivery and a smooth post-partum transition. The asanas and breath work will prepare you for the “hard work” of labor and help to assuage the fear commonly associated with birthing. Last but not least this class will serve as a wonderful source of bonding and camaraderie especially for first time moms to be.
Post Natal Yoga is a logical continuation of the mother and child experience where moms and babies come together to lovingly celebrate life and integrate yoga into their new realities.

Is Yoga a religion?
No. Yoga is more accurately defined as the science of mind focused on the understanding of the mind-body relationship. Although many yoga practitioners find congruency between their yoga practice and their spiritual beliefs and values, there is no theological orientation in the pure yoga teachings. People from different religious traditions will find that the practice of yoga will deepen and clarify their respective faiths.
