Satyananda Yoga Nidra is a pratyahara technique in which the distractions of the mind are contained and the mind is allowed to relax. It is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. During the practice, one appears to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. This workshop will include an introduction to the technique as well as a guided practice.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese system of slowly flowing movements and shifts of balance that strengthens the legs while conditioning the tendons and ligaments of the ankles, knees, and hips, increasing their range of motion and making them more resilient, less prone to injury. The constant weight shifts train balance and body awareness,
leading to confident ease of movement within the form and in everyday life.

Tai Chi is a physical exercise that focuses the mind, while conditioning the body. Practicing twenty minutes a day dissipates stress and reduces stress related debilities, increases stamina, and strengthens the body and will.

This nurturing workshop is about gently opening the body and achieving deep relaxation. Blankets, blocks, walls, straps and props are used to support the body in poses for several minutes at a time. The result is a soothing practice that leaves you feeling nourished and restored. A great complement to a regular yoga practice, or for anyone with stress in their lives. Leave feeling like you have had a massage without the therapist.

During the workshop, Laeonie will teach you how to get into these postures at home so you can replicate the restorative experience..

Introduce yoga to your little one. Learn the postures of yoga through yogic games, creative movement and play as well as various art modalities. Children learn to move and stretch their bodies in an easy and natural way which improves and promotes good posture and body awareness, promotes relaxation, creativity and imagination, increases flexibility, strength and balance, builds self-confidence and self-esteem, develops concentration, focus and self discipline. Yoga is a wonderful asset to any sport and provides a healthy way for children to alleviate physical and emotional tension from their bodies and minds, as well as attuning them to their true potential. No prior experience with yoga is necessary. Moms and dads are welcome.

This workshop will focus on strengthening the hips through their fullest range of motion followed by deep hip opening work to awaken the pelvis and unleash the lower spine. The Hips are the fountain of youth. When the hips are flexible we become more comfortable, feel lighter and younger.

Your hips, pelvis and spine will develop a new relationship with the earth through the practice of various seated asanas while your legs learn to support your body with strength and length in the standing asanas. With flexibility of movement, flexibility of mind follows. When our energy is free to flow through our hips, Running becomes easier, cycling becomes more enjoyable, playtime with our children and grandchildren is more rewarding and curling up with a good book is more relaxing.
