Yoga for Runners
Workshop

Saturday, March 13
2 - 4 pm

$35 + gst

Annika

For runners and endurance athletes with or without yoga experience. In this 2 hour workshop, participants are led through yoga postures designed to strengthen and stretch key areas for runners, including: hamstrings, hips, core strength and breathing. Additionally, if participants have specific injuries or areas of concern those are worked on within the classes. The pain that runners experience is often not from the running itself, but from the imbalances that running can create within the body.

Bring your body back into balance with yoga so you can continue to run long and hard for years to come.

Dance of the 16
Goddesses

Saturday, March 20
2 - 6 pm

$50 + gst

Zena

This is a rare opportunity to learn the ancient 8th Century Dance of the Sixteen Goddesses"

For over 1,100 years this dance was secret, only for initiates. It is a form of moving meditation from Vajrayana Buddhism in Nepal, an offering dance with slow, regal movements and graceful hand positions (mudras) which transform the dancer into balanced energy. The objective is to change duality into non-duality, bringing peace to the dancer and to the observer. The music is from the 7th century and the sixteen dance postures represent supreme expressions of beauty.

This very sacred dance is part of the Diamond Path to Enlightenment.

You will know in your heart if you are meant to learn it.

Zena is an International Advisor on the World Yoga Council of the International Yoga Federation, a senior teacher for the Yoga Association of Alberta and holds many yoga titles from India, including an Honourary Doctorate of Dance and Nritya Yogini (Dancing Yogini)

The March equinox will occur on March 20 in 2010, marking the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere.

Twice a year, the sun shines directly on the equator and the length of day and night are nearly equal in all parts of the world. These two days are known as the March (vernal or spring in the northern hemisphere) equinox and the September equinox.

What does equinox mean?

The word “equinox” derives from the Latin words meaning “equal night” and refers to the time when the sun crosses the equator. At such times, day and night are everywhere of nearly equal length everywhere in the world.
